How To Catch And Keep A Vampire
By: Diana Laurence
Bella Swan and Sookie Stackhouse are fortunate to have vampire boyfriends. But what the heroines of Twilight and “True Blood” don’t have—and could use—is some advice on getting along with them. Everything they and every other red-blooded American girl wants to know about finding a dreamy blood-drinker and making him hers is within How to Catch and Keep a Vampire: A Step-by-Step Guide to Loving The Bad and the Beautiful
And who better to introduce readers to the desires of the 21st century vampire than a few irresistible immortals? Let author Diana Laurence introduce them: Ethan, with his aquamarine eyes and supernaturally seductive piano playing. Gunnar, with his rich, golden hair, and dastardly but delightful knack for getting his way. The experienced and fascinating Colin, with his exquisite latté-colored skin and exotic beauty. Mordred, classically cruel, dark, and handsome, with a thing for black leather gloves. His entrancingly cute carrot-topped friend Adam, as sweet as Mordred is scary. The eccentric but gorgeous Aidan, purveyor of ancient magic. And enigmatic Conner, with his deep, dark eyes and protective soul.
summary from book
My Rating: 3.5/5
We are definitely a vampire obsessed culture. We've for the most part, always been fascinated by the so called living dead yet thanks to a large increase in vampire literature within the last decade, it seems that the vampire craze is bigger than ever as well as here to stay.
How To Catch And Keep A Vampire is simply a step by step guide to dating a vampire. This book is obviously fictions seeing as vampires are not real (sorry!) but what I greatly enjoyed about this book is that it reads as if vampires really do walk amongst us. In short, it is handled very realistically which I think made reading it even more fun to do. After all, seeing as the immortal vampire varies greatly from your everyday run of the mill mortal man, it only seems fair that there be book on the very subject.
I have to say that How To Catch And Keep A Vampire is very imaginative and creative as well as humorous. I love Diana Laurence's approach on an already heavily populated subject matter. She turned a prevalent idea into something unique that vampire fans would be able to enjoy just as much.
This book however is not just a step by step guide to dating a vampire. It also contains case studies and introduces you to a few fellow immortals that will keep you intrigued. And of course, a "How-To" book wouldn't be the same without a section filled with questions and answers.
All in all, this book is simply a lot of fun. I think it would be perfect to give to that someone in your life who is beyond obsessed with the charismatically alluring living dead. And even if you're not infatuated with them or don't happen to know anyone who is, I still think How To Catch And Keep A Vampire is a novel that will keep you entertained all the way through.

ReplyDeleteMichelle, I thank you so much for the great review! I'm do glad you enjoyed my book. By the way, my vampire friends have no objection to your referring to the book as fiction. They are very understanding that way; like Mordred says, "Well, we do seem to be too good--I mean BAD--to be true." ;-)
