I'll be honest, I was never a huge fan of the original cover and picked up Hate List purely based on the great summary and amazing reviews. I think the paperback is a little more eye catching and I like the black and white photo. That being said, I'm so used to the original and I do think that the paperback version is lacking something.
So what about you? Old or new?
New (Paperback)
I think I like the hardcover one better. The paperback seems to have lost some of it's punch. The hardcover has the starkness that I think sets a better tone for the story.
ReplyDeleteI own the hardcover, but that being said, i'm actually okay with the PB cover. The contrast of colours, along with the quote makes it look really good. My choice? tough one, probably PB
ReplyDeleteI actually like the hardcover better but the tagline on the new paperback will really draw people in, I think. Either way, I loved the book. =]
ReplyDeleteI love the hardback cover. I don't exactly like the PB
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everyone else. I really like the hardcover way better. It has sort of like an edge to it. But I have to say that the quote on the PB is very intriguing, it will definitely draw you in.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I still don't like the old cover or the new one.
ReplyDeleteI like the hardcover one. It's more dark and I agree with Jill that the PB one has lost the punch!
ReplyDeleteThe Hardcover is better that the paperback!
ReplyDeleteI hate it!!! For god's sake it has nothing to do with the story....NOTHING!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer the hardback over the new one. Though it would be better if they came out with something with more spark.
ReplyDeleteI really like the uniqueness of the hardcover too. The paperback does look great, but a little generic and bland? The hardcover would definitely catch my eye in a bookstore. The paperback, not so much.
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck? Why do they have to keep putting peoples faces on book covers? It spoils everything–besides, the hardcover is much better because it's suppose to be Valerie's painting/drawing.
ReplyDeleteI like the hardcover one better. There's nothing special about the paperback one and its been done before. Probably because I've seen the hardback cover so many times so I will always associate that cover with the book.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I'd have to say that I like the hardcover. I don't know. It just seems like there's a sense of anonymity to it. And plus, I like the colours. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya - wasn't a fan of the original cover (which I have) and I was hoping they would redesign it, but I can't say the paperback cover is all that great ... Neither blows me away, really ...
