contains spoilers if you have not read the first book in the series (The Summoning)
If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a group of people who call themselves The Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I’m a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control: I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us gain our freedom back before The Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.
summary from book
My Rating: 4.5/5
I'm officially addicted to this series. There is never a dull moment in The Awakening. Kelley Armstrong has created a fantastic page turning series with memorable characters and thrilling occurrences. If you read and loved The Summoning, you will without a doubt enjoy this one as well.
The Awakening holds the same gripping style of story telling as the first with more insight into what exactly is going on with Chloe and the others who were held at Lyle House. (Derek, Simon, Rae, Tori etc)
There really isn't much more I can say either than if you haven't read this series and you're a fan of fast paced books with supernatural elements and gripping story lines, then you have to read this. I really recommend this series.

Also, this is semi disconnected from the review but, I think I have a theory regarding Simon and Tori. At the end of The Awakening, when they find Andrew, he says something along the lines of "It's nice yo see you two together" directing his comment to Simone and Tori. Of course, they're both turned off by this comment but regardless of that, Andrew's gaze lingers between the two of them longer than necessary.
I think...that they're possibly brother and sister. In the beginning of the novel, we find out that Tori's father is not her biological father and that her biological father had to have been a sorcerer of some kind. And if I'm not mistaken, Simon and Derek's dad is a sorcerer. I don't know, I could be completely off but I think I may be on to something here haha. Did any of you that read the book pick up on the same thing or am I alone?
I didn't read the last part because I have this book in my stack beside my bed!! I can't wait to get to it!! But I'm trying to plow through my huge library pile first and then on to this one!! Fun review!
